The Bodyweight Kong Exercise?

What a crazy past 48 hours it has been. I’m down in South Florida on a business trip that has turned from dream to nightmare and back and forth a few times.

So yesterday morning I “beat the stress out of myself” with a crazy bodyweight workout down on the beach.

It was really hot and humid by the time I got going (at 7am), and I turned up the sweat by doing the “Kong” exercise.

I can’t put this exercise into words, but my buddies Adam and Ryan made a video of it and you can check it out on my blog here:

You’ve never seen anything like this before…well, unless you’ve watched “King Kong”.

Imagine me doing this exercise in front of you…it’ll make you laugh.

Oh, and there are a few other really cool exercises in the video.

HEALTHY SMOOTHIE RECIPE

This summer, whip up this easy, healthy smoothie chef Zakarian serves at The Water Club at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City

Ingredients:
1 pint organic blueberries (washed and strained)
½ pint organic blackberries (washed and strained)
3C. high quality mineral water to consistency (i.e. Evian, Hildon, etc…)
1/8 C. full fat Greek Yogurt (Fage or Chobani) can be substituted with lower fat Greek yogurt
1 Tbsp. Organic Honey or Agave syrup
2 heaping tablespoons of Organic Whey Protein powder (Preferably vanilla flavored)
2 C. ice cubes

Directions:
Using a high RPM blender, preferably a Vita-Mix, place the berries, yogurt, honey, protein powder, and the ice. Next add about 1/3 of the water, and turn on blender to blend on high. Allow to run on high for a couple minutes, adjust consistency to desired texture until smooth. Serve in a tall glass, garnish with some fresh berries and serve immediately.

The Kong Exercise

I did some very unique bodyweight training on the beach today, including “The Kong”. Perfect exercise for the beach.

Today’s Kickbutt Mindset Tip:
Never quit. If you stumble, get back up. What happened yesterday no longer matters. Today’s another day, so get back on track on move closer to your dreams and goals. You can do it.

Today’s www.InternetIndependence.com Tip:
Consistency is key. Track your efforts and focus on what works. Look long-term, not next week. Get social support to help you make it through the dip. I can’t emphasize how important it is to connect with and communicate with like-minded individuals. This has lead me to achieving one of my biggest dreams this week.

Operation Hardcore: Make Your Muscles Go BOOM!

These 4 BOMB steps are the perfect arsenal for blowing your muscles to smithereens!

“Don’t overtrain! You’ll only set yourself back and won’t make any progress.” We’ve all heard that one before. The way some gym dudes preach about the dangers of overtraining, you’d think it was the Bubonic Plague.

Today, we’re throwing all that overtraining stuff out the window, because every once in a while, you just gotta open the hatch and drop some seriously explosive work on your body.

I’m not saying you need to engage in scorched-earth policy on your muscles day-in, day-out, but running your body through the workout ringer every once in awhile is what the pros do, and it might just put some hair on your chest (just kidding, ladies). To ALL my brothas and sistas—I challenge you to take a walk on the wild side and blast your muscles into oblivion.

Why I Got Started

I had been overweight for a majority of my life. I started really packing on the pounds when I was seven years old. My grandmother had just lost her stable where I had spent a lot of my time and that was how I was getting a lot of my exercise.
